2018 Parola's Limited Release Durif
The Parola’s Durif has long been the flagship of our fleet. While not released every year, we relish them all the more in those unicorn years when they appear. Possessing a concentration, palate weight and viscosity unlike any other, previous vintages of this wine have been likened to "a hippopotamus in a tutu" - a graceful, lithe and supple creature of substantial structure.
This release was produced from fruit grown exclusively in the Rutherglen GI and stands as testament to why our region is the spiritual home of the Durif grape.
Impenetrable black/red in colour and oozing cedary oak, liquorice and Black Forest cherry cake on the nose. The palate is rounded and slurpy yet texturally chewy with coating tannin stemming from both the Durif grape and the 100% new oak barrels employed for maturation. Super ripe blackberry fruit, ripe plums and tar-like concentration yet incredibly moreish.
