2017 Reserve Malbec
Malbec was a new recruit this year, having been grafted over from our Zinfandel vines back in 2016. I’ve always had a soft spot for this variety and have been seeing some cracking examples coming out of Langhorne Creek. The bright blueberry fruit and crunchy tannins are endearing and it’s one of the few varieties that I don’t mind seeing some herbaceous qualities. I reckon we’ve done a good job and we’ll continue to refine and tweak our methods for years to come.
Bright red cherry colour with a purple hue. The nose is heady and floral with ample blueberries, spicy French oak and a roasted herb character. Black forest fruits on the palate are complexed by an herbaceous, savory thyme note with mouthfeel accentuated by grippy tannins.
